Pattie, James Ohio

(1804–c. 1850) trapper, author; born in Bracken County, Ky. He published a semifictional Personal Narrative (1831) regarding his travels to Mexico and California. He joined the gold rush in 1849 and disappeared while camping in the Sierra Nevadas.
