Pereira

(pārā`rä), city (1993 pop. 348,023), capital of Risaralda dept., W central Colombia, in the upper Cauca valley. It is a major distribution center for coffee and cattle and has a small textile industry.

a city in western Colombia, in the Cauca Valley. Capital of the Risaralda Department. Population, 212,000 (1972). A railroad and highway junction, Pereira is the market center of a region that produces coffee and livestock products. It has textile, food-processing, and leather-goods enterprises.
