A mediocre performer, on the other hand, settles for the comfortable execution of selling behavior and is unwilling to push their performance envelope. Average performers continue to strive for greater success even though they may reach a performance plateau.
Recently I had the chance to really see what two items would do at the outer reaches of their presumed performance envelope. No--nothing on the level of an Indy car or a jet--just a .22 rifle and a folding knife, although both proved they belong at the top of their class, respectively.
The upper limit of performance capability for a given operating condition defines the Performance Envelope. The bounds of this Performance Envelope are determined by the road geometry and Effective Friction.
"However, while the core elements of the road and track versions are shared, every aspect of the AMR Pro - aerodynamics, chassis, powertrain and weight - has been optimised to significantly extend the performance envelope. It offers a level of track performance significantly beyond any previous two seat closed roof car."
eo New 19-inch wheels, upgraded Brembo brakes and revised DCCD All-Wheel Drive give WRX STI a wider performance envelope
Together we'll push the performance envelope and extend AI to places that are currently beyond reach.

The next-generation AQUATRAN[R] Model 3 WVTR measurement instrument targets ultra-high barrier materials that are engineered to push the performance envelope. These include flexible films for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, solar panels and similar demanding applications, which require accurate and extremely sensitive instrumentation to confirm performance attributes.
Small satellites built by SFL consistently push the performance envelope and disrupt the traditional cost paradigm.
According to Shelby, it produced the vehicle to explore the performance envelope of the 2015+ Mustang chassis
With 110bhp on call it is usefully brisk on paper (11.0 seconds to 62mph, 109mph) but you won't want to explore the edges of the performance envelope.
