Photoshop actions

A feature in Photoshop that lets users download or create a set of procedures that can be reused over and over to edit an image in a particular way. An action is created by manually performing a series of steps and recording them in an ATN file. In addition, there are numerous actions and action collections that can be downloaded from the Web. See Photoshop plug-in.


A Built-In Action
Along with several others, this action came with Photoshop. Text shadows are used to provide a special effect but require a series of steps to create an accurate rendering. Running the Cast Shadow action causes these steps to be performed.

If you store sets of action in the Photoshop folder > Presets > Photoshop Actions folder, then they will automatically appear at the bottom of the Actions palette menu, so you can simply select them from the list to load them.
