Azimov, Pigam Azimovich

 

Born Jan. 1, 1915. Soviet Turkmen linguist, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Turkmen SSR in 1951, and Honored Scientist of the Turkmen SSR in 1961. Member of the CPSU since 1939.

Azimov became president of the Academy of Sciences of the Turkmen SSR in 1966. His basic work is in Turkmen linguistics and word formation. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and other orders.
