a river in Arkhangelsk Oblast, RSFSR, a left tributary of the Kuloi (White Sea basin). The Polta measures 168 km long and drains an area of 1,700 sq km. Originating on the White Sea-Kuloi Plateau; it is fed by snow and rain.
