Posestrimstvo

 

(sworn sisterhood), a custom analogous to pobratimstvo (sworn brotherhood); an alliance of friendship concluded between women and girls under the same circumstances and in the same forms as male alliances. Among the South Slavs, the wives of sworn brothers often became sworn sisters.
