potassium hexacyanoferriate, K3[Fe(CN)6], a complex iron (III) compound; dark red crystals. Density, 1.86 g/cm3.
Potassium ferricyanide is obtained by the oxidation of potassium ferrocyanide. With Fe2+ ions it forms a dark blue precipitate of TurnbulFs blue, Fe3 [Fe(CN)6]2, which is of use inanalytical chemistry. Potassium ferricyanide is also used as areducer in photography.
