Povorino

 

a city (until 1954 a settlement) under oblast jurisdiction and administrative center of Povorino Raion, Voronezh Oblast, RSFSR. Population, 21,000 (1974). Situated on the left bank of the Khoper River (a tributary of the Don), Povorino is a junction of railroad lines to Griazi, Georgiu-Dezh, Volgograd, and Balashov. It has railroad transport enterprises and a branch of the Borisoglebsk Meat-packing Combine.
