PowerToys

A set of utilities from Microsoft that enhance the Windows XP operating system for the power user. They provide shortcuts for executing functions and various options. However, although written by the Microsoft development team and available from the Microsoft website, they are not supported functions. PowerToys were originally developed for Windows 95.

Microsoft PowerToys lets you make adjustments that Windows doesn't, including viewing the icon of the application window you are switching to when pressing Alt-Tab, magnifying part of your screen from the taskbar, and managing up to four virtual desktops.
There were also a number of little Powertoys for enhancing some aspects of the operation.

Now that more users have adopted flat screens, Microsoft has improved the utility and renamed it ClearType Tuner Powertoy.
