Preplanting Irrigation

 

irrigating a field before planting to moisten the top layer of the soil in order to obtain uniform growth of sprouts and better development of plants during the initial period of growth.

In a study using four irrigation levels based on the Fort Collins crop-growth-stage method, the scientists found that with limited irrigation, it was best to skip the traditional preplanting irrigation for wheat.
