PICS

(1) (Pantone Internet Color System) The Pantone implementation of the Netscape color palette. See Netscape color palette.

(2) (Platform for Internet Content Selection) A system for rating websites that has been endorsed by the World Wide Web Consortium. PICS is promoted worldwide in order to encourage self regulation and avoid governmental censorship. Initially using labels within the HTML meta tag format to define a site, PICS labels can also be described in the RDF format. For more information, visit www.w3.org/pics. See ICRA.
