a news agency in Great Britain specializing in gathering and distributing national news.

Founded in 1868, the Press Association is a cooperative of provincial newspaper publishers. It owns a large number of shares of stock in the Reuters agency. The association receives international news from Reuters and supplies the agency with national news. It is a member of the European Alliance of Press Agencies. Centered in London, it has branches in the major cities of Great Britain.
