Prestopino, Gregorio

(1907–84) painter; born in New York City. Based in New York, he studied at the National Academy of Design. He used social themes painted in an expressionist style, as in his Harlem series (1957), which became an award-winning Cannes Film Festival film, Harlem Wednesday (1958).
