(IPM), a part of the department of mechanics and control processes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. It works on the most important problems in the field of mechanics, which determine the development of the field as well as applications. The IPM was founded in Moscow in 1965. Its areas of research include the mechanics of systems of rigid bodies and gyroscopes, control and optimization in mechanical systems, hydroaeromechanics and the mechanics of multiphase mediums, the rheology of non-Newtonian fluids, and the mechanics of the interactions of substances with laser radiation and low-temperature plasmas.
