Quintal

 

(in Russian, tsentner), a subsidiary unit of weight equal to 100 kg. The Russian abbreviation is ts; in countries where the Latin alphabet is used, the abbreviation is q. In certain countries, a unit equal to 100 pounds is called a quintal. In the English system of measures, a unit equal to 100 pounds is called a short hundredweight, or (chiefly in Great Britain) a cental.
