in Byelorussian, Ukrainian, Polish and other Slavic languages, a term designating a council or assembly of representatives, a collective organ of power, and a political organization. Examples include the Pereiaslav Rada of 1654, the Ukrainian Central Rada, the Byelorussian Rada, and the Krajowa Rada Narodowa.
