(räjshä`hē), formerlyRampur Boalia
(räm`po͝or bōä`lēä), city (1991 pop. 318,000), W central Bangladesh, on the Ganges River. It is the administrative center for a district that produces practically all of the country's silk. In the town are oil-pressing plants, match factories, and sawmills. Rajshahi
a city in Bangladesh, on the Ganges River. Capital of Rajshahi Division. Railroad station. Population, 76,000 (1969). A river port, the city has small establishments of the food and condiment, leather, and silk-weaving industries and produces handicrafts. There is a university, founded in 1953.
