a river in Riazan’ and, partially, Lipetsk oblasts, RSFSR, a right tributary of the Pronia, in the Volga River basin. The Ranova is 166 km long and drains an area of 5,550 sq km. It is fed primarily by snow. The river freezes in November or early December, and the ice breaks up in the first half of April.
