Rapid BIOS Boot

An enhancement to the BIOS on PC motherboards from Intel that speeds up POST (power on self test) times at startup. Introduced in 2002, Intel claimed booting was almost twice as fast as the BIOSes on competitors' motherboards. See POST, BIOS and Rapid Start Technology.
