A rocket system providing additional thrust for takeoff of an aircraft. Derived from rocket-assisted takeoff.

Rocket-assisted takeoff. A system of small rocket engines providing auxiliary thrust on takeoff. The rockets are jettisoned in a safe area after use. The same as JATO (jet-assisted takeoff).
