reducing sugar

[ri′düs·iŋ ‚shu̇g·ər]
(organic chemistry)
Any of the sugars that because of their free or potentially free aldehyde or ketone groups, possess the property of readily reducing alkaline solutions of many metallic salts such as copper, silver, or bismuth; examples are the monosaccharides and most of the disaccharides, including maltose and lactose.

The reducing end of the active site cleft is closed by a loop designated the cord, which is of fixed conformation and contains a conserved ProX-Gly motif, it may causes the substrate to distort from the relaxed conformation seen in cellulose and aids hydrolysis by interact with the cord.
Beta amylases break both types of glycoside bonds in amylose and amylopectin from non reducing end (exo-amylase) producing maltose and dextrin with beta anomeric configuration.
It is necessary that a tag of 2-aminoacridone (amac) was introduced at the reducing end of the molecule before the MS experiments so as to distinguish a fragmentation of native hetero-chitohexaose from the reducing or nonreducing end [23].
However, electron flux reducing end electron acceptors at the PSI (photosystem I) acceptor side, perRC (R[E.sub.0]/RC) in WT and MT-sHSP23.6 anti-sense plants began to decrease on the first day after the initiation of flooding, and this decrease continued as flooding continued.
Beta-galactooligosaccharides (GOS) are oligosaccharides composed primarily of galactose and often terminate with a glucose residue at the reducing end. They occur naturally in the milk of many animals 1] including humans [2], cows [3], and wallabies [4].
The anomeric protons of the [alpha] and [beta] reducing end GalA at 4.55 and 5.28 ppm correlated with H-4 signals at 4.39 and 4.33 ppm, respectively, indicating that a sugar, most likely Rha, was linked to it through O-4.
First-of-its-kind in the world, intelloCut measures, predicts and optimizes material utilization and productivity and makes the sewn products industry lean, green, and sustainable by saving material upto 10%, improving cutting room productivity upto 30 % and reducing end bits upto 70%.
According to a copy of the proposed change of operations released by Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU), the proposals include: consolidating 29 end-of-line terminals into existing terminal locations; reducing end of line road domiciles; reducing distribution center locations by three, utilizing existing capacity to create density for more network direct loading; reversing specified road primaries; establishing a new relay operation in Staunton, Va.
* eliminating and reducing end of line road domiciles;
* Reducing end user costs and complexity with thinner constructions, product consolidation and globally available products.
However, this labeling is based on reductive amination of the reductive end of the oligosaccharides with the labeling compound, so abnormal amino acid O-glycosides with no reducing end cannot be identified.
