Examining past evidence of a building’s history. Items to look for in researching buildings consist of architectural plans and drawings, assessment records, building inspector’s records, deeds, film and videotapes, guide books, household inventories, insurance records, legal resources, magazines, manuscripts, maps, measured drawings, newspapers, oral history, photographs and slides, postcards, reports and feasibility studies, surveys, and trade catalogs.
