Rhodesian trypanosomiasis

A fulminating form of African sleeping sickness caused by Trypanosoma rhodesiense, transmitted by the tsetse fly, and characterized by parasitemia, edema, lymphadenitis, and myocarditis. Also known as East African sleeping sickness.
