hip roll, ridge roll
A rounded strip of wood, tile, metal, or composition material which is used to cover and finish the hip of a roof.
1. A wood strip, rounded on top, which is used to finish the ridge of a roof; often covered with lead sheeting.
2. A metal, tile, or asbestos-cement covering which caps the ridge of a roof; also called a hip roll or ridgecap.
