A bundle of curvilinear bronchi and vessels extending from the hilar aspect of a peripheral nodule or mass that lies adjacent to an area of pleural thickening (the "comet tail" sign) and is associated with lobar volume loss with displacement of an interlobar fissure on CT is characteristic of rounded atelectasis (Figure 8).
