Roving Guns

 

artillery guns used in defense to deliver fire from different firing positions, which are as a rule prepared in advance.

Roving guns are used to mislead the enemy concerning the size and disposition of the artillery. Roving guns are covertly moved from one firing position to another. Mortars, tanks, and artillery and mortar platoons and batteries can also be used as means of roving fire.
