Rudd, Daniel

(1854–1933) Catholic religious leader; born in Bardstown, Ky. Rudd founded the American Catholic Tribune (1886), an African-American Catholic newspaper, and (from 1889) organized a series of black Catholic congresses; he was an important early voice for African-Americans in the Catholic church.
