These virulence genes are mainly associated with host cell recognition and invasion (invA, orgA, prgH, tolC, sopB, pefA), intracellular survival and growth in reticuloendothelial tissues (pagC, spvC), survival within macrophages (spiA, msgA), entry into non-phagocytic cells and killing of macrophages (spaN, sipB), and iron acquisition (ironN) (MOHAMED et al., 2014; SKYBERG et al., 2006).
These results also suggested the presence of at least three Salmonella pathogenicity islands (SPIs) (IOANNIDIS et al., 2013) in these isolates since invA, orgA, prgH, sipB, and spaN are commonly encoded in SPI-1, spiA in SPI-2, and sopB in SPI-5 (DIONE et al., 2011; SKYBERG et al., 2006).
Amplification was performed in a thermocycler (MJ Research, PTC 200 USA) under the following conditions: 1 cycle of initial denaturation at 95[degrees]C for 5 min, denaturation at 94[degrees]C for 30 sec, and annealing for 1 min at 53[degrees]C for spvB, spiA, pagC, and msgA and at 56[degrees]C for sipB and spaN and 2 min at 72[degrees]C, with a final cycle of 10 min at 72[degrees]C, followed by a hold at 4[degrees]C.
Further amplification of two virulence genes (spaN and sipB) was carried out and the resultant banding pattern is shown in Figures 4(a) and 4(b).
In addition, SipB has the functionality to activate the caspase-1 inflammasome leading to increases in levels of the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1[beta] and IL-18 [68].

The salmonella invasion protein SipB of T3SS was shown to direct heterotypic membrane fusion, allowing delivery of contents from E.
It has been proposed that SipB (located in/on OMVs) secreted by the invading Salmonella triggers bacterial entry into eukaryotic cells and this is blocked by a SipB-derived polypeptide (45,47).
Zanarotti told Rochlis in the MIT Network Group of the SIPB group's progress.
Zanarotti and Ts'o soon left the SIPB office and joined the group working in E40, bringing with them the decoding of the strings and much of the decompiled main module for the virus.
