To some extent, that was to be expected because the
SNC grouped such disparate groups as the Muslim Brotherhood, the Coalition of Secular and Democratic Syrians, the Arab National Democratic Rally, the Kurdish Democratic Alliance, the Syrian Democratic People's Party, the Syrian Turkmen Assembly and dozens of others.
The French government "welcomes the statement by the President of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC), which firmly condemned this barbaric act," the statement noted, drawing a clear line between the
SNC groups and other radical or extremist fighters in Syria.
Some say the SMB is funneling funds to favoured groups inside Syria to build its presence, while seeking control of the
SNC groups, in part through influence over independent Islamists.
