Satellite Tracking Station, Optical

 

a specialized astronomical observatory for conducting long-range visual, photographic, and laser observations of artificial earth satellites. Such observations are conducted in order to solve various problems in satellite geodesy, geophysics, and astronomy, as well as to compile satellite ephemerides, that is, predict the positions of satellites for future tracking.
