Siguranţă

 

from 1921 to 1944 the name of the secret political police in monarchist Rumania. It was founded with the aim of destroying revolutionary organizations and opposing the labor and democratic movements. According to incomplete data, the Siguranţă arrested more than 75,000 persons beginning in 1924. It was eliminated in 1944, during the establishment of the people’s democratic system.
