Simonds, Ossian Cole

(1855–1926) landscape architect; born in Grand Rapids, Mich. Trained as a civil engineer, he became superintendent of Chicago's Graceland Cemetery, which he turned into a park-like masterpiece in the 1880s before going into private practice in Chicago.
