Single Document Interface

(SDI) A limitation applying to an application program that only shows a single windows giving a view of one document at a time.

The opposite is Multiple Document Interface (MDI).

Single Document Interface

A Windows function that allows an application to display only one document at a time. In contrast, the Multiple Document Interface enables an application to be programmed to display multiple document windows.
