So-Iuy Mullet

So-Iuy Mullet

(Mugil so-iuy, or M. soiui,) a fish of the family Mugilidae. The body reaches a length of 60 cm and a weight of 3 kg. The so-iuy mullet is founded only in the Sea of Japan, from the estuary of the Amur to the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. In autumn, the fish leaves the sea to winter in rivers, where it settles in pits. In the spring and summer it feeds and spawns in the shallows of marine bays and lagoons. Spawning occurs in May and June. The so-iuy mullet feeds on detritus, as do all other mullets. The fish has some commercial value.
