Sol Way Firth

 

an arm of the Irish Sea, off the western coast of Great Britain. Solway Firth juts 65 km inland and measures 38 km in width at the entrance. It has prevailing depths of 7–10 m. Tides are semidiurnal and have a height of approximately 4 m. The tidal current velocity is 6–8 km per hour. The Eden River empties into Solway Firth.
