Suppose that [eta] denotes the solar altitude angle and [psi] denotes the solar azimuth angle, then we have the solar direction vector
Subsequently, the topographic bearings were back-transformed to true magnetic bearings (= magnetic alignment) and subsequently also with respect to solar azimuth (= solar alignment) by a researcher (P.
In the background, the shadow of the Times Building falls onto the last word in a sign reading "PUBLIC TELEPHONE CENTER for the ARMED FORCES." Vintage photographs and maps show that this shadow corresponds to a solar azimuth of 261[degrees] (9[degrees] south of due west) and a time of 5:00 p.m.
The results of a computer simulation, which consider both shading and the solar azimuth angle, showed that the energy generation efficiency could be increased by up to 47% by modifying the location of the BIPV building [7].
Since the room being modeled is surrounded by identical spaces, using profile angle calculations, it was concluded that the overhang extends far enough on either sides of the room, and therefore, the effect of the solar azimuth on its shading pattern can be neglected.
"Our results reveal the general layout of the neuronal machinery for sun compass navigation in the monarch brain and provide insights into a possible mechanism of integrating polarized skylight information and solar azimuth," concluded the authors.
"Some of Kepco's customers use the KLP-S Series to simulate a panel's response to sunrise-to-sunset curves with varying cloud cover and varying solar azimuth angles for different latitudes and times of the year," he concluded.
Greek Symbols [alpha]: Solar altitude ([degrees]) [gamma]: Solar azimuth ([degrees]) [epsilon]: Prism's inner angle ([degrees]) [rho]: Prism's rotation angle ([degrees]) [phi]: Array's rotation above plane xy([degrees]) [delta]: Output vector "altitude" ([degrees]).
The rover's heading with respect to true north [[alpha].sub.rover] can then be calculated using the solar azimuth [[alpha].sub.e] and sensed azimuth as by [9]
To explore the effects of varying surface solar azimuth on reflectance, Yellot used a reflectometer to measure the reflectance of a typical light-coloured fabric and drapery.
