a river in the southern US, rising in NE New Mexico and flowing east to the Arkansas River in E Oklahoma. Length: 1458 km (906 miles)

Canadian River

 

a river in the USA; a right tributary of the Arkansas River. Length, approximately 1, 500 km. Basin area, 124, 000 sq km. It rises in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (in the Rocky Mountains) and flows through the Great Plains and the Central Plains. There are sharp fluctuations in the flow; high water occurs in spring. The average annual discharge is 177 cu m per sec. The Canadian River is used for irrigation.
