Sovetskaia Abkhaziia

 

(Soviet Abkhazia), a republic-wide Russian-language newspaper of the Abkhazian ASSR. Founded in 1921, the newspaper was called Golos trudovoi Abkhazii (The Voice of Workers’ Abkhazia) until 1924, when it was renamed Trudovaia Abkhaziia (Workers’ Abkhazia). It has been called Sovetskaia Abkhaziia since 1926. The newspaper is published in Sukhumi five times a week. Circulation, 50,000 (1975). Sovetskaia Abkhaziia was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor in 1971.
