Sovetskaia Latviia

 

(Soviet Latvia), a republic-wide Russian-language newspaper of the Latvian SSR. The first issue was published under the name Proletarskaia pravda (Proletarian Pravda) in June 1940. The newspaper ceased publication after the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. It resumed publication in September 1944 under the name Sovetskaia Latviia. The newspaper is published in Riga six times a week. Circulation, 107,500 (1975).
