Staines,

city (1991 pop. 12,886), Surrey, SE England, on the Thames River. On the edge of Greater London, Staines is residential. There is some industry, such as the manufacture of diesel engines. Spelthorne Museum is there, and Thorpe Park, a theme park, is nearby.
