Steinberg, William

Steinberg, (Hans Wilhelm) William

(1899–1978) conductor; born in Cologne, Germany. He was a prominent conductor before being driven from Germany by the Nazis in 1933. From 1945 he had a distinguished American career with the symphonies of Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Boston.
