Stiglitz, Joseph E.

(1942–  ) economist; born in Gary, Ind. He completed his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at age 24, and went on to teach at several universities before settling at Princeton (1979). He is known best by other economists for his highly technical analysis of the competitive process.
