Stock-Exchange Crisis

a mass sale of stocks and bonds on the stock exchange caused by a rush for ready money. A stock-exchange crisis is generated by overproduction, itself the result of a crisis, and by political convulsions; it manifests itself in a drastic drop in the exchange rate of securities and a considerable reduction of new issues.
