Stranca

 

a mountain massif primarily in Turkey and also in Bulgaria in the eastern portion of the Balkan Peninsula. Length, approximately 150 km; elevation, 1,030 m (Mount Maya), Stranca is composed principally of crystalline schists and granites and, in the eastern part, of limestone. The northeast slope is covered with oak and beech forests with shrubby undergrowth and the southwest, with evergreen shrubs.
