Such a reading "against the grain" of what the Subtle Doctor intended truly understands nothing of what this other Franciscan aim or project wishes to engender.
The same would go, in my book, for "The Prince of the Scotists" (Bartholomew Mastrius) because John Duns Scotus (Doctor Subtilis--"The Subtle Doctor") is hard enough to understand.
No more will the reader of Scotus's Quaestiones have to wonder if he has even succeeded in distinguishing the Subtle Doctor from the objectors!
