Location:7 miles east of Santa Rosa.
Facilities:Family and group campsites, picnic areas (é), trails (25 miles), horseback riding concession (seasonal), observatory (é), visitor center (é), exhibits (é).
Activities:Camping, hiking, horseback riding.
Special Features:Park is located in an area where the headwaters of the Sonoma Creek run through gorge and canyon, then across the meadow floor beneath scenic rock outcroppings surrounded by redwoods and saddleback ferns. On clear days, from the 2,729-foot summit of Bald Mountain visitors can see the Sierra Nevada and the Golden Gate. An observatory located within the park offers year-round astronomy education and interpretive programs.
