Sullivan, James E. (Edward)

(1860–1914) sports administrator; born in New York City. He was one of the founders of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1888 and its secretary from 1889–96. The James E. Sullivan Memorial Trophy is awarded to the outstanding amateur athlete each year.
