A mixture of asphalt and graded aggregate widely used as paving material over a prepared base; normally placed, shaped, and compacted while hot, but can be prepared for placement without heat. Also see cold mix.

asphalt concrete

A graded mixture of aggregate, and filter with asphalt or bitumen, placed hot or cold, and rolled (ICAO). It is used in construction of operating surfaces like runways, taxiways, and aprons. Also called bitumen concrete.
