Suzzallo, (Anthony) Henry

(1875–1933) educator; born in San Jose, Calif. As its president (1915–26), he developed the University of Washington: Seattle into a major university designed to meet the state's needs. During his presidency (1930–33), the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching issued major reports on higher education in California and federal involvement in education.
